Honor Guard passing the reviewing stand

Members of the Flotilla 24 Honor Guard (Michael Sealfon, Tammy King, Scott Stringer and Gordon Meyers) had the honor of participating in the University of Washington Medal of Honor Memorial dedication ceromony on Veteran's Day.

In this picture the Honor Guard is passing the reviewing stand. On the stand are Governor Gregoire and the Asst. Chief of Staff of the Army. Fifteen Medal of Honor recipients were in attendence. The new Medal of Honor Memorial is in the foreground.

Maria fits a life jacket

In an effort to help reduce the statistical imbalance of water-born hazards and child safety, Maria Dittberner of U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 24 (Elliot Bay, Seattle) has been working with Children’s Hospital and the Seattle Parks Department since May selling life jackets and bicycle helmets.

The top-notch life jackets are sold at the bargain price of only $20 for youth sizes, and $30 for teen and adult sizes.

New FSOs

At the September meeting Eric Gilmour, Scott Stringer, Mary Dossett and Pete Garland were sworn in as Flotilla Staff Officers. Eric is assuming the Member Training position, Scott will be heading up Program Visitor program, Mary is taking on the Public Education position and Pete will take to lead on Marine Safety and Environmental Protection.

Flotilla 24 members Glenn McCualey, John Buresson and Noel Paterson completed their 3 year requalification as part of the Surface Operations program. Here Glenn McCauley takes a line from the Flotilla 22 crew working on an alongside tow as Qualifications Examiner Tom Liebert looks on.

Amos and Rachel Auxiliarists of the Week

Rachel Ceballos and Amos Leviant receive Auxiliarist of the Week awards from USCG 13th District Commander Admiral Blore.

Noel Paterson receives an award for his fine work as FC

Eric Gilmour receives a challenge coin from USCG Sector Seattle Commander Captain Englebert. Eric was recognized for his exceptionally fast start in his Auxiliary career.

USCG Sector Seattle Commander Captain Englebert attended the August meeting. She requested additional Operations assistance during a very busy period for Station Seattle. Flotilla 24 immediately rose to the occaision and scheduled additional patrols!
